Mounting Suggestions for Mustang Seats

Baseplate Features

Solo and rear seat baseplates are constructed of marine-grade fiberglass. Solo seats have two chrome mounting tabs that align with the stock threaded fender mounts. Rear seat mounts vary by model number.

B. Mounting of Mustang Seat

1983-96 FLT, FLHT Solo
Hardware included: two white washers

1. Engage tab on frame of bike into receiver at nose of seat.
2. Seat is spring loaded for a tight fit so the mounting tabs will be approximately 1"-1.5" above fender.
3. Align chrome rear tabs with threaded holes in fender.
4. Start one 5/16"-24 x 3/4" (1983-94), 5/16"-18x3/4 (1995-96) mounting bolt to finger tight and then do second, before securing both.

NOTE: If the fender holes have been filled in, use Harley-Davidson® 5/16" x 18 clip nuts or drill and tap out the old weld nuts.

1991-96 FLT, FLHT Rear Seat

14" Wide

Required mounting hardware: Mustang solo mounting bolts part #78027 1983-94, #78028 95-96

1. Rear of the Mustang solo is secured using Mustang solo mounting bolts part #78027 or #78028.
2. Engage front slots in passenger seat baseplate onto solo mounting bolts part #78027 or #78028.
3. Align rear tab with threaded hole in fender.
4. Secure rear tab with stock screw.

11" Wide

Required mounting hardware if handrail is removed:
Mustang part #78007 rear seat bracket.

1. Handrail or Mustang rear seat bracket part #78007 must be installed using bolts that mounts solo.
2. Fasten front of rear seat to handrail or mounting bracket using supplied 1/4-20" hex head bolts.
3. Align rear tab with threaded hole in fender.
4. Secure rear tab with stock screw.
